"Lack of appointments. Hospital cancelling apt..."

About: Southampton General Hospital / Ophthalmology

Original appointment cancelled by hospital letter saying I had cancelled when I hadn’t. It enclosed a new letter for a replacement apt. In a years time ! I was well overdue an appointment and another consultant had written to say I needed appointment . Despite this they had cancelled my appointment . I rang and they said just come in the following week and I would be seen by the named doctor.

I arrived and no record of my appointment and phone calls were made to secretary. The receptionist couldn’t find any record in her system and we had no proof of the new appointment as despite the secretary saying she would email the new date and time to us she didn’t.

Receptionist called the secretary and she said “are you sure I said come in today “?Two of us were there when the call was made and we were in no doubt we were correct.

We eventually got ‘slotted’ into a clinic.

When seen I did not see the doctor i was suppose to be seeing.

Not really impressed with the way the appointments system is and how I was made to feel a nuisance for attending.
