"Those nurses are jewels in the NHS"

About: Queen Margaret Hospital / Day Surgery

(as the patient),

I arrived at Dunfermline Queen Margaret Hospital at 07:40 for a hernia operation in the Day Surgery Unit and was placed in the care of nurse Jackie. She was efficient, kind and quickly got me ready for the operation. The surgeon and his assistants also spoke with me and reassured me all would go well. Please thank them all.  Because of complications with passing urine my release from hospital was delayed and after Jackie completed her shift I was passed to nurse Fiona. Rather then book me in for the night she reassured me that given time a solution would be found. She inserted a catheter to remove fluid from the bladder. She did this because she new I was nervous and desperate to return home.  I was able to leave hospital at approximately 10:45 p.m. Please thank Jackie and Fiona ( and all staff involved ) for their kind efforts on my behalf. Jackie and Fiona are Jewels in the NHS and made the experience a pleasant one. Again please thank them and all other staff involved.

N.B.  Fiona has a good sense of humour

Dear KYJ

Thank you for taking the time to post feedback in Care Opinion, I'm glad to see you were treated efficiently and was reassured during your admission. It is also reassuring for us that we were able to deal with your 'complication' in a manner that allowed you to still go home. I will make sure Jackie, Fiona and all the staff involved in your care are informed of your very kind comments.

Wishing you well in your recovery

Kind Regards

Nola

Update posted by KYJ (the patient)

Dear Nola,

Thanks for reply and again please thank Jackie, Fiona, Surgeon and all other staff involved in the operation for their kind efforts in my behalf. Going home that night was something I was desperate for. Fiona understood this and helped me achieve it.

Sincere thanks to all staff involved.

Apologies for the odd spelling mistake in my first post but I did that the day after the operation and was not quite "Compos Mentis"

Kind Regards

Joe Thorpe
