"Level of care of our 4 month old baby"

About: Royal Manchester Children's Hospital / Paediatrics

(as a parent/guardian),

Since our baby was 8 weeks old we have had ongoing multi problems with his feeding and as a result on multi occassions corey has stopped feeding all together. Our gp put a referral through to see a paedatrican and a few weeks later we got the booking letter. We live in middleton and I have always chosen for both my children to be born and cared for at st marys and the children's hospital due to the staff facilities and level of care. When I went to select an appointment the nearest one I could get out of 5 hospitals to pick from was in august which at this point was worrying as corey had stopped feeding all together taking a maximum of 10ozs in 24hrs and less wet nappies. I sent a message via the booking system to royal mamchester childrens hospital explaining what was happening and within 24hrs we was assigned an appointment with dr mark bone for 2 weeks time. We then saw dr bone and corey was doing better on new milk this was his 6th one and dr bone had already read up on corey record and reports on his file (I was very pleased with this as many drs dont bother now and you find yourself repeating over and over again) asked and generally seemed to care. He done a thorough check, observed a feed, explored and done referrals for him and listened to us. He put me at ease and made me feel alot happier. 2 weeks later corey went bad again and stopped feeding taking only 2oz of his milk each time. I phoned dr bones pa and left a message explaining what was happening and if we could move our scheduled appointment in auhust sooner as I was concerned. Within 4hrs dr bone phone me direct himself spoke to me on the phone and arranged to see him the following day whilst he was already busy in the accident and emergency department. We saw dr bone today and he has changed his milk issued different medication and as always given world class care and compassion. Its people like him that make the children's hospital what it is, its the reason why we choose to travel the distance we do to see the best professionals in the nhs, and why as a parent I feel valued, and confident my baby is getting the best level of care. Thank you dr bone. Seeing your baby cry refusing his milk making what should be the most natural thing a mum can do into sometimes the worst experience is not nice, but when you have a professional caring and informative paedatrican looking after him I know he is in the best hands.
