"Careleness"

About: Charing Cross Hospital

My mother has had a surgery at this hospital. The surgery seems to have gone fine but the

care has not gone right at the hospital.

My mother was quite poorly, unstable on her feet bit confused due to medications.

She was taken to bathroom and left alone and had a fall.Got quite injured on her right side.

She had surgery on her back then this had to happen. This I believe happened on the second day and I was not told about it until I found out from another patient. Then I made enquiry

with the staff concern then only I was told about the fall otherwise I would not have known anything, also my mother caught Pneumonia in hospital. I noticed my mother's chest did not sound good and I asked several nurses about it but I did not get an answer. I had no idea she had pneumonia. She had very rough time. Due to pains from the fall not able to walk much.

Too much burning in chest and throat. Vomiting almost everyday. Lost weight due to not able to keep much down.

My mother ended up in hospital for two weeks when she should have been out in two three days. At the moment she is in worse condition then she was before her surgery and that is not because of the surgery but what happened to her.

I only found out about her pneumonia on the day before her discharge when the team were preparing for my mother's discharge and one of the other staff mentioned the word pneumonia. In her discharge notes there is no mention of her fall at all. It said my mother left in satisfactory condition when that is not true. She is in terrible pains.

This is very worrying what is happening in NHS hospitals.
