I went in for a detox off alcohol, the first two-three days i was a bit jittery and every time i told a member of staff they quickly got me some medication and made me feel better as fast as possible! They even took the time to settle me down as i suffer with very bad anxiety and they really did their best to calm me down.
After day three was over i started to feel better alcohol wise and i wasn't really withdrawing off it any more, however my anxiety was still there as always (the reason i started to drink in the first place was to calm the anxiety) and so i mentioned it to the nurses who talked to me and decided to give me something called promozine which proved really effective! never before has my anxiety dropped so quickly in all my life.
i proceeded to carry on with the promozine and then decided to take something else too call baclofen which also works just like promozine but the effect lasts much longer.
i quickly changed into a much more confident patient even welcoming all the new ones in because i remember how my first day went.
i really cant thank the nurses/doctors the cleaners and even the patients in there enough for how much it has helped me i am so grateful.
if anybody reading this is due to go into detox in this centre then please go for it, you will not regret it, its changed the way i think about life as well because you go to groups inside there which help you change your bad habbits into positive ones.
I would like to end with this.... i left a nurse a recipe the day i left because i promised i would if they could get me clean, i hope you enjoyed the food :-)
