I was assessed at Reception very courteously and efficiently by Alexandra who told me that I could be treated for a finger infection caused by having been pierced by a thorn from a rose bush a week previously. I was told I would have a wait of approximately an hour which, having seen the huge number of patients already waiting, appeared optimistic. However, just forty-five minutes later, I was called through to the Treatment Area and attended by Nurse Practitioner Laurie. Laurie immediately put me at ease, had a very pleasant manner and treated my problem very competently and quickly. I really could not have asked for a better service. I found the sheer good humour of every member of staff I came in contact amazing, considering they are treating such a broad range of injuries in such a broad range of patients over a 12-hour period, and I can only record how very much I appreciated the skills shown by Nurse Laurie.
Just a thank you doesn't begin to convey my appreciation. How could the experience have been improved? I found the wait boring but bearable and was pleased to be called before I expected. Reducing the wait time would be the only way the experience could have been improved and I think if you had had to wait for more than two hours, it would have been hard. However, funds are limited and only higher staffing levels would lessen the waiting times. Nothing else could be improved. Your staff are superb.
