"Bad customer care at Andover Minor injuries"

About: Andover War Memorial Hospital

(as a parent/guardian),

I am currently sitting in Winchester A& E (at 18: 37) with my 13yr old daughter after being rudely turned away from Andover’s minor injuries. After checking with their website that closing hours were not until 19: 30 (as we live outside of Andover) my daughter and I headed over. She painfully managed to hobble herself around the hospital to minor injuries (with a suspected fracture to her foot) to be greeted with closes bars!

There were 2 members of staff at the desk behind these bars who I think tried to pretend I was not standing there. After calling hard enough one answered and abruptly said they were shut (as we should have been aware from the signs outside the door! ) and we would have to go Winchester. My dismayed response was that I checked the website and it stated 19: 30hrs closing time! And that I don’t live outside their doors so how could I possibly have known they decided to shut early? ! The staff member was very rude and not interested and said I should take it up with the trust.

I am honestly disgusted at their response to a situation which was not our doing! The times should be changed as necessary on the website, people are not mind readers! Absolutely appalling and my daughter Is now in more pain from all the extra unnessary walking and by adding another 45mins onto the time for her to be seen. Absolute disgrace. I work with a complex and intense clientele within a public service and by no means would I treat any of them in such a rude and abrupt manner as was served to me today.

I only ever have praise for everyone working on the frontline but this unprofessional staff memebr has left a negative feeling indeed!

Thank you for your feedback regarding your recent visit to the minor injuries unit. I am sorry that the unit was closed when you arrived and that the information on the website was wrong.

The opening hours have only changed very recently, and I can only apologise that this wasn’t reflected online. We have now updated the opening times on our website.
