We attended Corbett Hospital and waited to book in. There were two receptionists on duty. This particular receptionist was dealing with a patient who required his details updating.
When he had left, my partner went to her as he was next in the queue. Now, we both fully respect all people whom work within the NHS, regardless of what grade they are: surgeon or cleaner, they are all marvellous. However, this receptionist was rude and snappy.
She barked at my partner that she needed to update these records first. Fair enough, she had an important job to do and we appreciate that, but there are ways and means of dealing with the public. Her tone was rude and condescending instead of maybe being not exactly apologetic but a "Oh, really sorry - I just need to update this, won't keep you long" would have gone a long way.
I could appreciate this behaviour if it was at the end of a long day, but at just after 9am on a Monday morning it doesn't bode well for the rest of the day. No one makes a trip to hospital for the sake of it. So to speak to people so rudely isn't on. My partner is diabetic and really struggling in this weather, and he didn't need to be spoken to that way. She desperately needs retraining on how to interact with people. I would hate to have my elderly parents spoken to that way.
"Extremely rude receptionist"
