"Making a difficult time easy"

About: Bpas (merseyside Clinic)

I found out two weeks ago that I was pregnant and knew right away that Abortion was the best option for me. I am 23 years of age currently studying a university degree and have a very active life. I was not ready for this at all. I contacted bpass and got an appointment two weeks later. I visited the clinic yesterday and brought my friend along to support me. I was so worried and so anxious about what was going to happen next. When I got to the clinic I was seen right away by a lovely member of staff for my consultation. At this point I was scared and upset. She reassured me everything was ok and I had nothing to worry about. Instantly after speaking with her I felt a lot more at ease. I joined my friend back in the waiting room before being called by the nurse. When I was called the nurse kindly let my friend come in with me for the support. She checked my blood pressure and done a few tests before performing a scan. Because I was under 9 weeks I had to have an internal scan which I was very nervous about however the nurse made me feel so at ease and it was over in 5 minutes. After this I went back to the waiting room and sat for 10 minutes at the most before I was called again. I was then given my first tablet and another four that I had to insert myself. The nurse gave me pain relief and an anti sickness tablet and went through what I had to do next. When I left the clinic I was expecting to experience a lot of pain from what I had been told and read up online. Honestly I would rate this pain 3/5. It was literally the exact same as a bad period. I thought it was important to do this as I know how scary it can be and when you go online you see nothing but horror stories but honestly anyone that is about to go through this you have absolutely nothing to be scared of. The staff are absolutely amazing!! I could not thank them enough. Everyone makes you feel welcome and at ease and you are never made to feel like you are alone. It is in no way as painful or as bad people make it out to be. I was also told I would be at the clinic for 6 hours however my appointment was at 9 and it was all over by 11.30. I really hope this helps anyone else that has to go through the same thing.

Thank you for taking the time to post your feedback, which I am sure, will be extremely helpful to other women who are looking for guidance prior to their treatment.

Kind regards, Pam Field, BPAS Client Engagement Manager (email: clientservices@bpas.org).
