"Treated with respect by professional staff..."

About: Peterborough City Hospital / Accident and emergency

As a result of an accident I had last weekend I found myself in A&E at the Peterborough City Hospital and I would like to take this opportunity to thank each and every one I came into contact with. My first port of call was the Resus Ward and both the doctors, nurses and ancillary staff in there were polite and totally professional throughout that long period and constantly ensured both myself and especially my wife were OK. I had to have both a CT Scan and x-rays too and again the staff there were the same, despite it being very late on a Sunday evening and probably a very long weekend too.

I was then transferred up to Ward A15 to await an operation on my arm sometime in the next day or two. Again all the time I was there I received the same level of care and professional attention from everyone and at no point was I left in the dark as to what was happening. I had a visit at gone midnight from the MaxFac team and had my face treated. The male nurse who did the work left me at 1am and said he would see me around 9.30 in the clinic to remove the last bit of tooth! I was taken down around 10 and he was there, all smiles.

I was lucky and had my operation on the Monday afternoon and again the theatre staff from the consultants down were brilliant and explained everything to me and the next thing I knew I was back on the ward. I was monitored around the clock by the night staff and the surgeon visited me before 8 on Tuesday morning with the good news everything had gone well and I could go home later that day.

The NHS is constantly under extreme pressure and always under funded but all of the people I met during my brief stay in PCH were nothing short of angels. They all worked tirelessly yet maintained a totally professional manner towards myself and my wife despite a high volume of patients throughout the hospital.

Can you please ensure that the senior management for ReSus, CT and X-ray, MaxFac and Ward A15 pass on my sincere thanks for their staff's care and attention plus their sense of humour too.
