"It has made the first real, significant changes in years"

About: Highly Specialist Services / Eating disorder service

(as a service user),

-I've had a really good experience of care from SEDS both as an outpatient (psychology) and in the day service. I feel I've had an experience of care that has been thoughtful, genuinely caring and adapted to the different stages of recovery I have been at.

-As an outpatient I have had both CBT and Cognitive analytic Therapy, and found both approaches helpful in understanding problems and beginning to make changes to my eating, weight and behaviour around food. I really appreciate that the service understand the importance of psychological as well as physical recovery.

-As a day service patient, I have really benefited from the structure and boundaries day service provides, and this helped me change my eating behaviour in spite of the huge anxiety I had around this and reach a 'recovered' weight for the first time ever as an adult. I found the OT cooking group really supportive in challenging behaviours relating to both my anorexia and anxiety around contamination. Day service has made all the difference to me in actually making real, significant changes after having anorexia for over fifteen years and not managing to change things on my own.
