I attended the radiology department on the first floor on Monday 4th June 2018 for a post operative x Ray following bunion surgery at 1545 hrs. As the bandages were still on my right foot I was on crutches. On presenting myself at the reception middle desk I was told that I wasn’t on the list and I’d have to go away. I then explained that I was to have the X-ray
Ray and then proceed to the 15th floor for a meeting with the consultant. The receptionist told me to go to the 15th floor using the express lift. I asked is she could telephone the staff on the 15th floor to save me the effort and even though I showed her the phone numbers that I had she was unwilling to make a call. I then had to walk slowly up to the 15th floor outpatients reception who made a phone call and sent me downstairs to the 1st floor for an x Ray. On arrival back at the radiology reception on the 1st floor there was no one in the queue and I waited behind the blue rope as per the notice and waited on crutches while the receptionist had a long conversation with what appeared to be a friend in front and to the left hand side of the reception. When she had finished her conversation she returned to her middle position behind reception desk and beckoned me forward. Is this really how you treat people who attend the hospital for an x Ray when clearly it’s not the best time in their lives? Staff are just not interested or helpfull - they should learn a little respect for others.
