I phoned the Lea Surgery in Homerton yesterday morning just before 10 am and as I tried to explain to the receptionist what my problem was she cut me off to put me through to doctor and I heard the receptionist over the phonesaying to her colleague "it was not a phone consultation". I said it was only human to wish to tell her my symptoms since I am terribly worried and she said a few times over "Being human doesn't come into it."
It was a follow up call regarding a recent course of treatment for what it's assumed to be gastritis or H Pylori. I was just requesting an appointment to investigate the problem further.
In hindsight, following my latest visit after my stomach problem returned I should have got a second opinion since I wasn't examined at all and promptly prescribed a new batch of medication on the assumption it is gastrites. Whatever it is, the medication hasn't helped and I am worried about being misdiaguinosed.
I am speechless and shocked at such treatment. How can you say that to a patient when you work at a GP? Whenever I go there I se them chatting to people they know while others have to wait. So she is only human when it's convenient to her? Utterly appalling service.
If being human doesn't come into working at a GP practice and patients are treated this way at 9 53 am on a Tuesday what mood will she be on by Friday or Saturday. Maybe it's time to give a more helpful receptionist a chance at the job?
"Not going back"
