"Admitted via AE for blood transfusion"

About: Croydon University Hospital / Gynaecology

I attended

AE on 25th May and required admission for a blood transfusion. The AE staff were excellent - kind and professional.

I was admitted to Queens 1 at 2 in the morning and all the night staff were incredibly welcoming -from the nurse in charge to the student nurse and healthcare assistants. As a nurse I couldn’t have given better care myself .

The attitude of the daytime staff was very different however and just reinforced how attitude and demeanour are just as important as the clinical care given. The doctor dealing with my discharge treated me as a partner in my care and that was appreciated.

I found the hospital to be very clean.

I only stayed a night and day but overall it was generally a positive experience.

Thanks for taking the time to tell us of your experience. I am pleased to hear how well staff in A&E and Q1 welcomed you and looked after you. I will make sure the senior leads for Q1 see your feedback so that your comments about attitudes can be shared with staff.

Kind regards

Hilary Frayne
