"I was referred to Cardiac unit by my GP"

About: Bedford Hospital South Wing / Cardiology

I went to the Cardiac Catheterisation Suite in South Wing Bedford Hospital on 24th May and first met the Consultant Intervention Cardiologist. I then returned on the 28th May for a Coronary Angiogram after having a clear and concise explanation as to what was going to happen. I was diagnosed with a 95% occlusion in my left anterior descending artery. I was offered angioplasty which was carried out less that 48hrs later. I discussed medication and side effects. The Consultant Cardiologist fitted a drug eluting stent and the operation went remarkably well. We discussed after care and I agreed to take part in a study of the effects. I was able to go home the same day and the speed of my recovery has been remarkable.

I wish to thank the Consultant Intervention Cardiologist for his excellent and prompt treatment for my condition and the wonderful and efficient staff who were so helpful.
