I don’t usually write reviews but I felt moved to after the colonoscopy I just had at the Cumberland Infirmary.
First off, I want to mention my IBD nurse. Sadly, given the state of my colon, this procedure hasn’t been very successful for me and, to be honest, really painful at points. Consequently, I was rather nervous going in for another go - being a naturally anxious person didn’t help matters either. Indeed, I was on the verge of cancelling my appointment for fear of failure. That said, my IBD nurse phoned me and spent 20 minutes or so reassuring me, taking me through the adjustments they had made to increase the likelihood of succes, and outlining the benefits if they managed to complete the scope. Additionally, the IBD nurse offered to chat to me in person on the day of the procedure to make sure everything was alright - something which I thought was a very kind gesture. As a direct result, I decided to go for it.
Secondly, with regards to the procedure, all the staff involved were very polite and professional and got me through the more painful moments I unfortunately experience. I really had nothing I could realistically fault. Most importantly, the scope was a success! I was - still am - delighted and, even though the degree of inflammation shown isn’t exactly good news, I now have peace of mind knowing the information is there to start drawing up a treatment plan.
Many thanks again to all the staff involved.
