"Basic care wasn't there"

About: University Hospital Monklands / Care of the Elderly (Wards 14,20,22)

(as a relative),

My dad was in ward 20 last year. We took him out to care for him at home. The basic care wasn't there. I felt it was sheer neglect! I've not one good word to say about the ward. He was in ward 21 also where the care was amazing. All the staff we dealt with in ward 21 were kind and friendly, and I don't feel the staff we dealt with in ward 20 were the same.

Dear Not Happy Daughter,

Thank you for taking the time to get in touch via Care Opinion. I can clearly see that you have concerns regarding your fathers care in Ward 20 and I’m sorry for the experience you and your father experienced whilst he was in hospital with us.

Whilst I’m not able to address your concerns fully on Care Opinion, I read your feedback with concern and I would be keen to look into the issues you have raised.

If you feel able, please contact Melanie MacLean Patient Affairs Manager on 01236 713065, who would be more than happy to take further details and ensure we have the appropriate consent and permissions to look into your concerns further.

Kindest Regards

Elaine Morrison Interim Senior Nurse
