"Very positive experience"

About: Scottish Ambulance Service / Emergency Ambulance University Hospital Ayr / Accident & Emergency University Hospital Ayr / General Medicine

(as the patient),

My husband and I were touring Scotland, on Saturday 19th May he had chronic back pain and was unable to move. He laid flat in the back of our campervan and I drove him to hospital. I asked a paramedic outside to help me get him in he and his partner were brilliant they used a trolley and took him in. It was early evening by now.

The care he received in hospital was excellent from everyone by 11 o'clock it was decided he needed to stay in because he couldn't move he was in too much pain. I was told it was ok for me to stay in the carpark in the van.

Next day he was able to slowly move and eventually we were able to leave the hospital. Everyone we came into contact with were very professional, caring and helpful.

We come from Norwich and although a night in hospital isn't what you expect to have whilst on holiday it was a very positive experience. We thanked all the staff we came in to contact with they were all amazing, kind and incredibly dedicated to helping us.

Dear Pheonixfn55,

Thank you very much for taking the time to share you and your husbands experience on Care Opinion. I am sorry to hear that your holiday to Scotland was interrupted by what sounds like a very distressing situation. I hope that your husband is on the road to making a full recovery.

Thank you for your kind words around our staff and the staff of our partners in NHS Scotland. It is always good to hear that our staff behaved in the professional and caring manner in which we would expect.

Hopefully you can come back up to Scotland and see more without any further events like that.

I wish you and your husband all the best!

Kind Regards

Alan

Dear phoenixfn55

Thank you for your lovely comments. I can imagine the worry you experienced when your husband was unable to move. Certainly it isn't something you want to happen on your holiday.

I was pleased to learn that everyone helped when you arrived at the hospital and that your husbands time with us was brief, enabling you to continue with your holiday and journey home.

I will certainly pass on your thanks to all involved and I hope your husband has continued to make a good recovery.

Kind regards

John
