About: St Helier Hospital / Accident and emergency

I went to the urgent care centre today, arriving before 9am. Told reception staff that I had a problem with my eye, details were taken and I was told to take a seat. After watching people who came in after me were being seen I asked how much longer I would have to wait. Upon discovering I was there about my eye I was told I needed to go to the acute eye centre. I had been waiting nearly an hour and a half to be told there was some miscommunication and I was in the wrong place, no apology. To see I was extremely annoyed is an understatement!

Staff need to be better trained.

In contrast the acute eye clinic were very professional and I didn’t have to wait too long before being seen.

We are really sorry for this confusion and will pass your comments on to the receptionist team so we can avoid something similar happening in the future.

Thanks.
