My Son has an underlying auto-immune disease and has been seen yearly in the Rheumatology department at GOSH since 2015. I was reassured by his consultant to call the hospital anytime he has a flare up. Earlier this year he had a flare up and I called the Rheumatology department and left numerous messages to find out whether he could be seen asap, but was never called back. He had a yearly f/up appointment due in approx. a few weeks, at the appointment I mentioned to his consultant that I called and left messages, she didn't even acknowledge my concern. In the f/up appointment I found out that some of his organs may be enlarged, his iris was enlarged at the time, which was confirmed through an eye hospital. I mentioned this to the consultant, despite the consultant knowing my son was having a flare up, he was scheduled to have a ultrasound 3 months later. That was ridiculous as my son has undergone many test at GOSH too late (when his flare up had dissipated), which resulted in showing nothing abnormal. I decided to get an ultrasound done privately to speed up the process. The result showed some of his organs were slightly enlarged, I called GOSH to inform them that he needs to be seen and to request the result from the ultrasound. I gave them all the information needed to obtain the results. This was 4 weeks ago, I've called numerous times and all that is said is we will need to email the consultant to find out if the results have come in. To this day nobody has called or left a message on my phone. This is ridiculous, as a former paediatric medial secretary I cannot get my head around the poor service on such important matters. I would like my son to be seen at another hospital that is a lot more attentive in their approach to situations that need to be evaluated at the time, rather than months later.
