"Very good care overall"

What I liked

We were given a well equipped nice room in the delivery suite with a window which was welcome to ensure the room wasn't too hot. the midwife was experienced, patient and gave excellent care. She also got me cups of tea while my wife was in labour which I thought was very thoughtful.

Our baby was very premature (34+0) and the obstetrician and paediatricians were very good and we felt in good hands throughout.

When he was taken into NICU the nurses and doctors there were superb and kept me informe throughout.

Overall the doctors and nurses and midwives did a great job and meant our baby was well looke after throughout.

What could be improved

There was some confusion between midwives as to how dilated my wife was.

When the obstetrician Was discussing intervention options with the midwife he did so in front of my wife without asking us, and without talking to us- so my wife thought that he was going to do a caesarean section as she couldn't hear properly. He should have either disorders the options with us or taken me to one side to talk through the options. He also gave my wife a deadline before conducting an interaction, which was not at all conducive to her having a low stress birth.
