I have had to take several members of my family and myself to A & E over the last year, the most recent at the weekend.
I has stupidly sliced my hand with a stanley knife, usually it is cardiac problems or fractures as my daughter has ehlers danlos syndrome.
The staff are always polite and professional, but over the years it has been the patients that have changed, they want their treatment and want it now. Please believe me when you are seen if they have any reason to think it is serious you move. At Christmas my son went in with a temperature and chest pains, he had been filling a skip 2 days before. He is 21. That boy moved through that hospital with such care and efficiency I will be eternally grateful, he ended up being Blue lighted to Hammersmith Hospital for specialist treatment for myocarditis.
When I had a recent episode with atrial fibrillation again I was dealt with quickly and brilliantly.
So this weekend I cut my hand through not being careful, I felt guilty for wasting their time, the lovely nurse told me it's an accident it happens. I waited a while do I mind ...NO because somebody is getting the emergency treatment they need the staff are working hard and you see it, they think the waiting room is clearing and suddenly there are more people. It never ends.
Please remember that the staff are trying to care for us and a please and thank you goes a long way, because I think they are wonderful and always think I couldn't do your job.
I do know things go wrong, but over the past 20 years I have lived in Isleworth the hospital has changed, but look at the flats , houses etc that have been built. Remember that we are very privileged to walk in and get treatment without having to show that the bill will be paid at the end .
So thank you to all the staff you really are appreciated we just don't say it enough when we are hurting.
"unfortunately a frequent user."
