I receive on-going care at Canterbury hospital, unfortunately I would never recommend treatment with the nephrology consultants. Every time I turn up I see a different consultant, they never read through my notes until I’m in the room and despite my GFR being is constant decline my treatment never changes. I am never consulted on side effects of my medication nor is on-going care ever discussed. In fact one head consultant seems visible annoyed whenever I raise any concerns. I was put on medication for a blood clot which caused a rapid decline in kidney function and then was told I should stop taking my water pills which were flogging my kidneys (I had been on this dose for a while before this was picked up), subsequently I began to see my hands and feet swell up so badly they were twice the size. I now can’t walk or use my hands. Three sets of results are missing from my patient view so I have no idea of the state of my kidneys for my last two appointments. All in all this has to be the worst run department.
