I fractured my wrist having fallen down stairs in my home and was put in a cast for a week - when returning to the fracture clinic the next week to have the cast removed / changed I was then told that I would require an operation. This was quite a shock as the prognosis at the time of injury was that the bones were aligned. Things moved very quickly from there on and before I knew it I was ready for theatre - however, given urgent cases arriving I returned the next day.
I would like to thank the surgeon who carried out my operation (Mr Grant) who took a lot of time to explain (both days) why he would advise having the surgery and talk me through the process despite my reservations which I really appreciated - his team were also exceptionally patient and supportive which given how worried I was about having an operation was very much appreciated and helped my confidence immensely.
My follow up appointments at the fracture clinic were very professional and the medical - nurses, doctors, support staff were all excellent and therefore I wanted to provide this feedback.
