"ED and ward C25 ENT"

About: Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust - Queen's Medical Centre Campus / Ear, Nose and Throat

I am currently staying as an inpatient on ward C25 of the ENT building Nottingham. I am going to email a formal compliment letter on the wonderful experience I have received within NUH but would like my positive experiences to be made aware to FFT.

ED - despite the very obvious pressure faced currently by emergency departments and feeling very poorly, the care, time taken, consideration and composition of staff in A and E was wonderful. I felt very well looked after and my symptoms were quickly assessed and treatment provided to relieve me of them. All staff were wonderful but I would particularly like to thank the doctor the on call SHO for ENT who reassured me above and beyond and despite evidentally being demanded in multiple places by multiple people really took her time with me and remained professional throughout. Her bedside manor, efficiency and ability to cope under pressure is a credit to NUH and herself.

Ward C25 - I would like to individually name staff but due to feeling so poorly and being in contact with a higher number of staff I sadly cannot. Firstly the nursing staff that treated me (shifts of Monday 28th -29th May 18) were extremely caring, efficient and professional, again despite being busy, even the most menial requests were dealt with instantly and they including the HCA staff etc were really good at asking patients if they were comfortable, needed water pain levels etc. Even the food and the catering staff demonstrated this same ethos and I feel this makes a the difference when you are feeling so unwell. I would dread to think of staff feeling stressed or unhappy and they deserve all the praise and credit that is due for their above and beyond style of care they have shown me.

Finally the ward itself was immaculate. I work in medicine but now for the military but not too long ago I remember working on the wards and how often we would receive cleanliness/general housekeeping tidyness complaints and often thinking to myself how easily the wards can slip. I think the ward is outstandingly clean and well kept and I was very comfortable.

Thank you once again so much for the fantastic care and genuine concern and professionalism for my illness when I felt so poorly. My FFT will never be enough to show my appreciation but i have renewed my admiration for the medical and nursing professions and I feel strongly that praise should be given when it's due.

What amazing praise for our teams – thank you!

I have shared your kind words with the staff on Ward C25 and the Emergency Department.

We’re all pleased that you felt confident in our care and received fantastic care from our teams. We look forward to receiving your longer letter too!
