What I liked
A& E was brilliant, even though it was a very busy Sunday afternoon.
What could be improved
20 hours after admission, the medication in mum's locker belonged to the previous occupant of the bed. And the medication locker was not locked, which seemed to me to be a potential hazard.
When mum was admitted to the ward, I was asked to wait in an interview room and was told that the staff would let me know when mum was settled. They never did come and tell me. 40 minutes later I went to find mum who was fast asleep because of the morphine by then. I didn't know what the plan was or what was going to happen - I was left very much in the air. And the staff seemed to be too busy to help. I asked what I should do with the bag of clothes that the Nursing Home had sent with her and was told to put them in the locker, but I couldn't get at the locker because the drip was in front of it, so i left them on her bed table. The next day, the bag was on the window sill.
"I was not impressed by the ward"
