I care for my adult child with MH needs. Their care out of hours falls under CRISIS.
It has been "drummed into me" to contact CRISIS when we have a "CRISIS" out of hours.
I can honestly say hand on heart my experience (s) of CRISIS have been appalling, one time we ended up in the E.D following no assistance/ logical ways forward in dealing with a MH CRISIS. The "Professional" on-duty visiting the E.D to see why my child had been admitted following their "intervention" (I laugh sarcastically.)
Staff in my opinion can't wait to get you off the phone & really aren't interested (luckily my phone records calls so I have proof, I shall be taking this further & reporting to the CCG & CQC.)
CRISIS is when an individual is in CRISIS...yes?
Act on it "Professionals."
Disgraceful attitudes. Disgraceful treatment & lack of.
I'm "just" a Parent/ Carer, I'm not MH trained, I call for assistance, guidance, help & advise.
My most recent contact with CRISIS has left me perplexed at what you really do & want to do.
It seems, not a lot, just hurry a conversation along to get "us" off the phone, when I'm left at a loss as to what to do next or how to cope with a situation.
CRISIS=failure 100%.
"Utterly disgraceful."
