"I thought the whole experience was terrible"

About: Forth Valley Royal Hospital / Accident & emergency Forth Valley Royal Hospital / Acute assessment unit Scottish Ambulance Service / Emergency Ambulance

(as a service user),

My husband was taken to AE F. V. H. L. with pains in his chest, he was brought it by ambulance (who were very nice), at about 7. 30pm, he waited and waited for hours, till about 9. 50pm before seeing a doctor he then had xrays then we were still waiting. It was terrible. they got him through to AAU at 1. 20am in the early hours of the morning, I then got home at 2. ooam the whole experience I thought was terrible, for some one who had had a heart attack previous. They just don't seem to give a dam. My husband is now in Edinburgh Royal awaiting a heart bypass.

Dear TULLIALLAN

I am sorry to hear that you felt your recent experience of the Emergency Department here at FVRH did not meet your expectations. I can appreciate that this was a particularly distressing time for you.

We aim to see, treat and discharge or refer on any patient who presents to the Emergency Department within 4 hours of arrival and I can only apologise that your husband had a length of stay longer than we would have liked.

As a Department we appreciate all forms of feedback and always share patient experiences with staff to drive forward service improvements.

I would be happy to look into you and your husband's experience further if you felt that would be useful. You can contact me on 01324 567085.

Kind Regards

Judith Rooney, Service Manager

Dear Tulliallan,

Thank you for taking the time to write about your experience on CareOpinion. I am sorry to read that it was not a positive one, but glad to read the ambulance crew were very nice. Please wish your husband well in what must be a very worrying time for both him and yourself.

It is very important that all feedback is communicated and acknowledged as this is how we learn. What matters to you is the most important thing.

If you would like any comments passed on to the crew that attended you can email myself at scotamb.feedback@nhs.net. I would be more than happy to do this for you.

I hope that the surgery goes well and you are all back home soon.

Kind Regards

Alan
