"couldnt ask for anymore brilliant"

About: West Cumberland Hospital

I was admitted on new years day with being short of breath with having asthma attack which turned into pneumonia then I went into respiratory failure and admitted to icu to be intubated and put into an indused coma for few days. when I woke I must say the staff where absolutely brilliant couldn't do anymore for you.

they saved me from the brink I was moved to a ward where there again the nurses where brilliant made me feel comfortable after being what I had been through.

I have just finished with physio on a one day a week basis they again where brilliant the only two things I could complain about is phone signal rubbish on icu when I had my trachy removed I wanted to ring my children but couldn't get a signal and being on o2 its usually pretty good but when I moved to ward 2 I could get one which was a floor up and the other is the tvs on the wards I didn't get visitors through day so days long and boring and having to pay for tv was not good even if they gave you free tv on channels 1,2,3,4,5 would make life a lot more easy and comfortable especially for people who never get visitors.

Thank-you for taking the time to post comments about your recent experience in West Cumberland Hospital in Intensive care and on ward 2. It is really nice to read that you felt well looked after by 'brilliant' staff. I will pass on your comments to the teams concerned who work hard delivering compassionate care to our patients.

I am sorry that you were disappointed with the phone signal in ITU and having to pay for the TV's in ward 2. The phone signal in the West Cumberland Hospital is very variable and there is ongoing work happening regarding this. The contract for TV services is via an external company, I will feedback your comments to them.

With best wishes for your ongoing recovery.

Georgia Wright, Head of Nursing, Patient Experience and Engagement.
