This surgery is great if you can get there and if you are assertive but not if you are frail elderly and vulnerable.
If you are ill, disabled, elderly and cannot get to the surgery then the doctors will *never* come out and see you and the receptionist said that they "Never do home visits".
I know they are busy and working hard but my mother is elderly and bed-bound. To get her to the surgery is almost impossible but the doctors will *never* come and review her if I contact them.
Last time I thought she had a chest infection but I wasn't sure and was variously advised to call 999, or told that they would send out their nurse to see her and finally after two days they prescribed some antibiotics over the telephone (without ever having seen her).
It's short-cut medicine and the most sick and vulnerable deserve better and not be made to feel like they are begging for a favour if asking for a home visit.
Two of the doctors are also very bad at acting on recommendations from the hospital without being chased.
To improve the care this surgery provides they need to find a way to accommodate home visits and also find a way of not missing critical information in hospital letters.
The staff are lovely but they really could do better on these two things and I rather suspect they know it.
"Not good for the frail elderly and vulnerable!"
