Booked doctor’s phone appointment they asked my symptoms, only managed to tell a few and they had already told me it was probably in my head. I asked if they thought I was imagining it, and was told yes probably. they do not know me never seen me and obviously have not looked at my notes and I wasn’t given the time to give my full symptoms so all this is this decided by a phone call!
They asked what I thought it was and as I already have a chronic problem with my mouth, Diagnosed by dental hospital.
I was concerned that this problem was getting worse as it is very distressful and uncomfortable. On arriving at the surgery the doctor was not listening to anything else I had to say or even gave me the time to finish what I wanted to say, they had already made a decision that it was in my head. I was having medication for the problem but that was discontinued by the doctor as it interfered with my heart tablets, I was then told if heart specialist could change my heart tablets I could continue on the medication, why wasn’t I told this 2 years ago and could’ve avoided all the discomfort.
I asked if we could consult the heart surgeon but no response from Doctor, just said I had some fluid in my ears and to take nasal spray for two months and then come back and see him. What sort of consultation is this, never dealt with the problem I had consulted them about in the first place , had they even glanced at my notes they would have seen letter from the consultant who has been treating me for another chronic condition, this was never mentioned even thought they had suggested I might be referred to ENT as these symptoms were very distressing for me, this was totally ignored, even when I mentioned it.
On leaving the surgery the doctor just said, you don’t like us do you and repeated you don’t like us to you.
Absolutely dumbfounded as I have never complained and have always been respectful and courteous. I find this absolutely out of order and very unprofessional I am totally astounded by this remark . The only thing I did say to the receptionist that there was a certain doctor didn’t want to see because Of being misdiagnosed on last visit. hence not returning for two years. To add insult to the consultation, I was struggling to open the door to leave as I am waiting for a shoulder replacement and hip operation so I found the doors very heavy but the doctor just sat and watched me struggle.
Where do I go from here and get the care I deserve as a patient? really stressful consultation, totally at a loss. Unfortunately there is not enough space to give the true seriousness of my visit and how I feel. Nothing was dealt with to any satisfaction. If they really thought it was in my head, shouldn’t I be afforded help? I feel totally insulted.
"Absolutely appalling and undignified consultation."
