"She encourages me to make sure I'm living my life for me"

About: One Recovery Bucks

(as a service user),

The family service has been a huge support to me. They got back to me quickly after I put in a request for support. My support worker is down to earth, helpful and positive. My husband is an addict and has left the home. I am now a single mum and had completely lost myself when I entered the service. My support worker is helping me find my core values and build up my boundaries. She encourages me to make sure I'm living my life for me and looking after myself in order to be the best mum I can be. She helps me see I'm very tough on myself and that I don't have to be perfect. I find our weekly meetings hugely helpful.

Only thing I could suggest to help families access is a creche or playgroup. Its hard enough as a single mum and this service is so important.

Thanks so much for taking the time to give us your valuable feedback on our new family service. It's great to hear our family lead was responsive and helpful. I will ensure they see your feedback. It is also encouraging to hear that you have found the work with your worker helpful to build up your own internal resilience and really focus on you and your child/children, moving away from the bleak feeling of being lost.

I completely hear what you are saying about childcare, and we are looking into options.

Keep accessing the support you need and I reiterate what your worker is saying 'don't be too hard on yourself' making these important life changes can be hard enough without your personal self criticism.

Wishing you and your family all the very best.

Tracy
