"Disappointed"

About: Nova Scotia Medical Cntr

I had been booked by the doctor for a booster on tetnus after receiving a cat bite even though the jab lasts for 10 years and I still have another two to go. However he said I needed a re-booster just in case only to turn up today and to be told by the nurse that I didn't need one and had another two years before I'm due one. After asking why would the doctor book me in she said even though he was a good doctor that he needed training.

I'm extremely disappointed as it took 20 mins drive to get there and I was still waiting another 10 mins extra for my appointment. I think if someone would of called me to cancel it wouldn't have been so bad but I'm very annoyed and disappointed by this surgery.

We would like to thank you for bringing this matter to our attention as it is only through feedback and refection that we can review and improve the service we provide.

We apologise that you took the trouble to attend the surgery to make an appointment for a tetanus booster unnecessarily.

General Practitioners do not have the specialist knowledge or training in this immunisations and it is unfortunate that you were given a GP appointment.

On reflection we should have directed you more effectively to a Practice Nurse as this is who has the current knowledge and training in this area.

From this we have taken learning.

Unfortunately at the time of your appointment with the GP he did not have a Practice Nurse to ask for advice therefore by asking you back he was trying to be helpful.

We accept that this was a waste of your time and also a waste of an additional appointment.

For this we apologise.

We have ensured that our Receptionist are aware that enquires regarding Vaccinations and Immunisations are to be directed, in the first instance, to our Practice Nurses.

We hope this response addresses the concerns raised.

Kind Regards

Nova Scotia Medical Centre
