"Nobody explained anything to me"

About: Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust - Queen's Medical Centre Campus / Neurology

After 35 years of headaches, and a mri scan for cancer it was eventually spotted I’d had a brain bleed and have 2 cavernomas on my brain.

I was told exactly these words” well it didn’t bother you before and it won’t now, you’re what we call a victim of VOMIT”.

Apparently votmit stands for Voictim of Modern Imaging Technology.

I pointed out I’d spent 4 weeks in hospital after a neurological problem and the bleed was missed.

I’ve been called a fraud for the entirety of my life by every teacher, my mother, Dr etc when I mention the horrendous headpain I live with.

I was told exactly these words.

“The big one in the right frontal cortex is deep and big, you won’t know about it if it bleeds, now let’s not make an issue of it pick up your bag and run along”.

So I’m left scared of another bleed, the likelyhood of a further one is higher if you already had one.

I don’t know enough about my condition or where they are placed. Also I need to know if the front one is causing my head pain, I’m now experiences horrendous anxiety and worry.

Obviously the consultant didn’t care - is that the culture in neurology at QMC?

It is diametrically opposed to the values of the NHS - I though compassion was supposed to be on the agenda, not bullying into silence.

It’s absolut appalling that I’ve been left in this limbo.

I’ve made an advanced decision for if I have another bleed and am left as a vegetable, I don’t know what else do do as nobody explained anything to me at all.
