"Rude nurse"

About: Abbey Medical Centre

I'm sorry to say that my visit to this site today (Abbey Medical) wasn't satisfactory. I went for a pill check and all was going ok until the nurse asked me if I wanted a written prescription or computerised one sent to my pharmacy. As she was still questioning me I replied, "written" and she said it would have to be signed by doctor to which I replied that I'd rather have one sent to the pharmacy then as I'd not known this before. To this she replied I've already put it through now so no you can't have one sent. I kindly told her I'd very much appreciate it if she send one out the pharmacy as I'd have to come back to the surgery to pick up the written prescription to which she asked me if I was working. As I said no I'm not working, she rudely said "I think women that don't work nowadays are more busier than working women". Even after this I remained calm and just said I had school runs to do not that that was any of her concern. She was totally unprofessional and rude. She became frustrated at me when I kindly asked her if the prescription would be signed now so I didn't have to come back. She just kept saying I don't know anything ask at reception. It wouldn't have been too much for her to just rip up the written prescription and send one out to the pharmacy of my choice and she didn't have the right to be giving me rude sexist comments. We need better service than this please.TOTALLY UNPROFESSIONAL AND VERY RUDE.

Dear Patient, let me first of all apologise on behalf of the surgery for your recent experience. It certainly is not the kind of behaviour we endorse from any of our staff. I believe you have had a discussion regarding this matter with our GP Principal, and I have also had the opportunity to discuss it further with the member of staff concerned. Let me assure you that it is not something that will be repeated again. Thank you for providing this feedback, which will help us improve the overall patient experience for the better. Regards, Mr Nasir-uddin Hoque, Practice Manager.
