I called 111 on a Sunday a few weeks ago concerned about symptoms my 12 year old son had.
I was offered an appointment at the Urgent Care Centre for 4pm which I took. We got in to see the doctor at exactly 4pm. He was very good and attentive and explained things clearly. He examined my son, tested a urine sample and asked relevant questions. He said what he suspected it was but said he could not confirm without doing a blood test, which the Children’s ward could do. So we decided to get admitted to the Day Unit where my son was examined thoroughly again and diagnosed with Mesenteric Adonitis which presents with symptoms similar to Appendicitis.
A prescription was ordered and given and we were discharged a little after 5.30pm.
I could not fault the service we received at all, both from the urgent Care Centre and the Children’s Day Unit.
It is really good that you have the option of either going there and waiting to be seen or getting an appointment.
"Excellent service"
