"Delay in spotting the problem has caused me..."

About: Marisco Medical Practice

Attended Friday as I had the symptoms of tonsillitis-I expressed my concern that last year it turned into strep throat and was really bad, even so the doctor said “it’s probably viral” , I explained again that I get tonsillitis at least once a year and it always ends up bacterial and severe but he wouldn’t prescribe me anything .

24 hours later I ended up at Louth urgent care centre as it was much worse, very swollen and clearly one side of my throat had a big abscess. Quinsy was diagnosed and I was immediately put on ten days antibiotics! The doc said the only reason she wasn’t admitting me to hospital was because my temp was ok. 48 hours later I am still in absolute agony and have sore ribs from coughing, razor blades feeling in my throat and a horrible headache.

The doctors really need to start being more proactive when people come in in genuine agony and not write everything off as a virus! Won’t be going back here ! The walk in centre were much friendlier and actually listened, and did a full examination !

Our Clinical staff have to diagnose according to what they are presented with on the day and can not predict what may or may not develop in the next 24hours. They have a responsibility to inform the patient of their options should their symptoms worsen particularly if that would be outside of our working hours.
