My first visit to the Eye Unit was as a result of an emergency referral.
The staff were all kind and helpful, explaining what they were doing.
I left knowing that I was at high risk of having a stroke, and was given a leaflet which explained I would be seen by the Stroke Unit within 24 hours (although the doctor said it would be 48 hours).
When I phoned 4 or 5 days later to enquire what was happening (there was a weekend in between), I was told PAH doesn't have a Stroke Unit and was given the phone number of the unit at Queen's Hospital, Romford.
I was seen there nearly 3 weeks later.
I suspect the doctors in the PAH Eye Unit don't know this is what happens to their patients.
On my second visit to the Eye Unit a month later, I was seen by the rudest doctor I have yet to meet.
He didn't introduce himself, he didn't explain why I was there, he put eye drops in my eyes without telling me he was going to, he measured the pressures in my eyes without telling me that's what he was doing (quite difficult since it's important not to blink), I had to ask if there was any change since my previous visit (I think he said 'no') and whether I could drive ('no').
On my next visit I will refuse to be seen by this man.
I hope he isn't there so I don't have to.
