"Excellent Doctor"

About: Audley Health Centre

Although I am not a patient at this surgery I feel compelled to write a review on behalf of my husband and his family. My mother in law was diagnosed with lung cancer in November 2017 after a referral to the hospital from the doctor. Despite offers of treatment my mother in law took the decision not to persue this as at 82 years of age she felt the treatment was to invasive and wanted the remainder of her time to be spent with her grandchildren and children, not in hospital wards. From the beginning of her ' cancer' journey, that initial appointment with the doctor to her passing on 28th April this year her care at the hands of the doctor was incredible. The doctor went above and beyond her duties as a Doctor to make sure my mother in law was treated with the respect and dignity she so richly deserved. She made house calls to check on her well being and phone calls to see how she was getting on. Whenever we had any questions or concerns the doctor returned those calls as soon as she could and explained whatever it was we needed with the utmost patience and compassion. As a family coming to terms with the loss of such an amazing lady it will forever bring all of us comfort to know she was cared for so amazingly by the doctor. One of my mother in laws last requests whilst in the Douglas Macmillan Hospice was for my husband to buy a card and flowers for the doctor as a 'thank you', I think this says everything as to the high esteem the doctor was held in by one of her patients. Not only this but after her passing the doctor called my father in law (also 82) to pass on her condolences and remind him that should he need anything he only had to call. In a time where we only hear the negatives in the press with regards to NHS care the doctor is an example to all, her professionalism, compassion and genuine concern, despite I'm sure an exhaustive workload was exemplary. I cannot begin to explain the gratitude we feel towards the doctor for making the last few months of our mothers life the best they could possibly be, without her the grief we all feel could have been so much worse. As a family we will be forever grateful to her and wanted you to know what a credit she is too your surgery. Many thanks.
