The overall care was very good; and the staff did their best to help me given evidently limited resources. Mainly the fact that there wasn't even a drip stand for my antibiotics. I was on the point of suspending the drip myself by means of a shoelace when one of the nurses did the same by means of a tourniquet. It is shocking that staff and patients are failed by the absence of such basic equipment and this really needs to be dealt with because there is no point giving intravenous antibiotic to someone when they are not even able to benefit from it because lack of equipment leaves them holding the drip in their lap..
I also felt that the first doctor I saw on the ward had a bit of an attitude when it came to my insistence that I did not want an X ray or a CT scan; and he failed to record this on my notes so that in the morning I had to reiterate this fact again. What I will say in relation to this is that not having been to medical school doesn't make you an idiot- and this is MY body, after all.
But those two things aside; I was cared for really well; especially by the paramedics, and I'm really grateful for the care received.
