"Such great care"

About: Barnstaple Health Centre

(as a relative),

My father recently had a cataract operation at Barnstable Hospital.   He was impressed the short waiting times, good information to explain what to expect pre and post; and the kindness all staff showed him.   He has since commented that touches like giving him tea and biscuits afterwards made such a difference.   He was amazed the NHS on its stretched resources could give such great care.

Thank you for sharing your father’s story with us and I hope he is recovering from his recent cataract operation.

It is reassuring to learn that he did not have to wait long for his operation and that he received good communication regarding the procedure.

As you point out, it is the small touches that make a difference, and I am glad the tea and biscuits provided comfort following an anxious time.

I have passed your kind comments to the Manager of the service where they will be gratefully received and shared with staff.

Kind regards

Jayne

Further to my previous response, I shared your kind comments with the Service Manager who passed them to the Clinical Lead for Ophthalmology. In order for the service to learn which patient treatment pathways work well, I wonder if you would consider sharing your father's details with us via our Patient Advice & Liaison Service (PALS).

If you are happy to do so, I would be grateful if you could e-mail your father's name, date of birth and address to PALS at ndht.pals@nhs.net and this information will be forwarded to the Clinical Lead.

Thank you in advance for agreeing to assist the service.

Kind regards

Jayne
