"11 years to get it wrong"

About: University Hospital Of North Tees / Trauma and orthopaedics

Following hip replacement surgery in 2007 I have been a regular visitor to North Tees and Hartlepool hospitals for numerous scans,x rays, injections and consultations with staff of the Orthopaedic and Spinal units.

I have been seen to be at the limit of what can be done for me in the Orthopaedic unit, passed to the Spinal unit, who now have reached their limit also, and so have suggested to my GP that I should now attend a pain management clinic.

BE AWARE. The new Pain Management Triage system done for the NHS after is done by a private management service who decide which treatment programme is suitable. The clinician for this service was a physiotherapist, not a doctor.

His diagnosis on how I should manage my pain was to train my brain to ignore the pain, and to attend group forums with other pain sufferers so that we could all discuss each others levels of pain.

He stated he was not qualified to administer drugs or medical services. So, after a 12 week wait to see someone I thought was competent to review my pain medication, I am no better whatsoever, a complete waste of time.

Obviously an NHS cost cutting ploy.

So, 11 years later,be warned,a new hip can sometimes lead to a great deal of suffering,
