"Horrible service"

About: Whipps Cross University Hospital / Maternity

I had been booked in for a obstetrics appointment at whipps cross. Unfortunately I had suffered a miscarriage two weeks prior to this appointment. Obviously this was a VERY difficult time for me! I tried on SEVERAL occasions to contact them to cancel my appointment but on no occasion did they bother to pick up. I even went through switchboard! Going through a miscarriage I was still trying to cancel the appointment. On the day of my appointment a nurse called to ask why I had not attended I explained the above to her and to be fair she was nice and apologised profusely for what I had to go through and said she would escalate this to ensure it doesn’t happen again. Today I receive a letter to tell me that they are contacting my gp to tell them that I had not attended the appointment and had not cancelled. RIDICULOUS.

Hi, I’m a PALS officer from the Patient and Liaison Service here at Whipps Cross. I am sorry to hear about your recent experience in our maternity unit, particularly at very difficult time. If you’d like me to investigate this further, could you please contact me on WXPals@bartshealth.nhs.uk.
