"Recovery at PCASS"

About: Guernsey House / Primary care addiction service Sheffield (PCASS)

(as a service user),

I have come to Guernsey House for the second time to get help getting off drugs. The first time they were good and helped me and after detox I stayed off drugs for a few years. I got back into mixing with people from before and started using again.

I came back to Guernsey House and they have helped me again. I was pleased that they did not judge me. I feel I am really making positive steps this time and have now been going to college to take two courses for the last six months. This has been the thing that has really helped. When they offered college I really did not want to go and did not think it was for me, but the people there have been great and its been good just mix with other people at the college and also its given me something to do with my time. Guernsey house have been supportive of this, and this time when I was coming off there was more attention from my keyworker about what I was going to do socially and with my time.

Thanks for taking the time to post about your experience of treatment from Guernsey House.

All postings are read and discussed by our staff in our monthly staff meetings and hearing about the things that we got right helps us to stay on track.

It's great to hear about your experience at college and hopefully other service users reading your posting will be reassured that it can work out even if they think 'it's not for me'.

Wishing you all the best with your recovery.
