My 8 year old daughter was admitted on Tuesday evening to Stoke Mandeville Hospital paediatric decision unit with severe vomiting and dehydration. I was very worried about her and she was very distressed but the staff on PDU could not have been more caring and reassuring to both of us. We were transferred to Ward 3 Children's ward at 2 am and the care shown to us was amazing. The nurses and doctors on the ward were brilliant throughout our stay. There was a lovely play specialist who included my daughter in activities and the ward teacher made sure she had things to do during her time with them. The facilities for parents was really good, with a separate kitchen and quiet area if needed. We were discharged home the next day after fluid replacement and advise given if we needed to come back. There is an open door policy for 48 hours for re-admission if necessary.
