"Maternity Stars"

About: The Tunbridge Wells Hospital

We were both concerned how different our experiences of birth would be comparing going private in Thailand vs NHS in UK. We needn’t have worried.

I don’t think anyone could ever describe a 20 hour labour as ‘good’ but the team around us were fantastic.

We felt fully guided through all steps and it very much felt like ‘good practice’. Each stage and available pain relief option was explained clearly and concisely. Other staff often came in and did a ‘fresh eyes’ to check that nothing untoward was happening with mother or baby during this time.

20 hours, did I mention 20? Throughout this whole time everyone was fully professional, but also created a relaxed environment where we felt in control, but also guided and fully informed.

Post natal care was also great. We came home today feeling elated about how well it went.

The NHS is marvellous and it’s done us proud - long may it continue to do so.

The Team were energised and fantastic and a special thanks to three particular staff members.

We really do appreciate your hard and valuable work.

Thanks so much.
