Since last summer I have become the main carer for my daughter who suffers a Neurological illness with mental health issues. The most difficult part of caring for her is communicating with your surgery. The utter frustration at trying to get a supportive service from the surgery has had me in tears more than once - I waited for 1 hour 45 mins on the afternoon of March16th afternoon, to speak to a GP who'd asked me to ring her back after my daughter had taken an over-dose . By the time my call was answered I'd missed the telephone appointment by an hour. The music I'm obliged to listen to as I wait again today (having started as caller no 3- three quarters of an hour ago) is maddenlingly rubbishy, uncalming ,repetitive and crass. Give us some Mozart or Bach for God's sake ! The lack of eye contact and smiles as one approaches the excessively high counter in reception is very cold and unwelcoming. I dread having to communicate by telephone.
"Very challenging access !"
