"Would expect more from a private hospital."

About: Spire Little Aston Hospital

Firstly I work in a private hospital so I expected to recieve a similar service to what we provide, I couldn't believe the lower standards received etc

My consultant was amazing very calming and explanatory of what was going to happen etc would reccommend my consultant and her anethetist to everyone but I would recommend going to a different hospital to see her.

Theatre staff that I met were lovely and caring.

The cosmetic nurses that I met prior to surgery and who visited on day after surgery are amazing, they are a credit to you.

My catering experience is horrific. I was offered a sandwich by a very unfriendly miserable man before my surgery and when that came post surgery it was inedible. It had started to go stale and was so dry.

I then asked for a bowl of soup abit later on (having been back 3 hours and unable to eat the sandwhich) when I asked I was made to feel cheeky like I had no right by my nurse who made it seem like an inconvenience. When I still hadn't received said soup an hour later I buzzed to ask again an when the nurse came in she again made me feel bad an said she will send someone from catering in.

When a lady from catering came in she offered me a jacket potato or omelette, thinking the jacket may be dry and the thought of egg turned my stomach I asked if I could just have some soup which the reply was "Well do you want the fresh soup or tinned" I went with tinned as the hostess didn't no what the fresh soup was. When I finally got that another half hour later it was lovely..... then again all tinned tomato soups are.

Breakfast was fine. Not once did I see a menu or was I asked if I had any allergies or diatery requirements.

My night nurse is an amazing nurse. When she asked if I had eaten and I told her about the day, she offered me anything and everything and kept me with as much tea as I could possible drink! The care She provided was above and beyond and nothing was too much trouble for her. She is an amazing person and a credit to your hospital.

My room (room 58) was ok. It was clean but very dull and basic and my door wouldn't stay shut unless it was slammed. My sister asked if I could move rooms not long after we arrived but was told it was fully booked so couldn't. Even tho there was two rooms round the corner empty that stayed empty till after I had gone home.

I had a mix up with pharmacy as I was leaving as they didn't give me enough antibiotics. Nurse wrote in my file I had took one the previous evening even tho I hadn't and was made to feel like I was trying to steal an extra antibiotic.

The worse part of all is I had a questionnaire after surery that I filled out with everything I have wrote above and also requested a call back on this. It's been two whole weeks and still havnt heard back. On my week review I also filled a card out with a complaint on that my cosmetic nurse gave me, and have heard nothing back from that either.
