"Disgusting and humiliating!"

About: Fowey Hospital

What I liked

Nothing. We were refused to be treated at this hospital!

What could be improved

We were refused treatment for a sprained ankle and were instead sent to St Austell. What if we didn't have a car? And what about the patient being in pain??

Anything else?

from http://www.cornwallandislesofscilly.nhs.uk:

"Health chiefs say that patients attending A&E instead of accessing the other NHS services available for non-urgent care, inevitably impact on the ability of the emergency team to respond to serious injuries and life-threatening conditions.

Instead they are encouraging people to consider alternatives for minor injuries and ailments, including [...] Minor Injury Units at local community hospitals "

Tihs hospital refused to treat my friend's sprained ankle and instead sent us to a&e at st. Austell!

I am very sorry to read your experience at Fowey Community Hospital, should you wish to discuss your concerns further please contact PALS (Patient Advice & Liaison Services) on 01326 435885 or e mail us at pals.community@cornwall.nhs.uk. We take all negative comments seriously and in order to improve our service provision it would be helpful to investigate your experience and establish the rational for sending you to another Community Hospital when you were already in discomfort.
