"Lack Of Personal Care In Favour Of Routine Painful..."

About: Russells Hall Hospital

Anything else?

I am writing on behalf of Client, I am aware that she has two very capable daughters but as I visit her in a professional capacity and I am aware of her condition before and after her stay in hospital I feel compelled to ask, how on earth can a patient be so maltreated? Has all form of humanity, adequate nutrition and appropriate medication been replaced by compulsory catheterisation?

This is a case which needs taking to the highest level as there are clearly huge flaws in protocol. I am no expert on the history of medicine but surely anyone with a modicum of insight would be appalled at the current lack of personal care and training in favour of the routine application of unnecessary painful procedures.

I sincerely hope that someone on the inside is willing to stand up - for all our sakes.

Thank you for taking the time to feedback your experience of our Accident and Emergency Department. We are sorry you feel your visit to our hospital was not as you expected.

Different types of patients attend Accident and Emergency, for example some have major injuries and some have minor ones, and as you say the clinicians in the department prioritise patients according to their on their clinical need.

Patients with minor injuries wait to be seen by an emergency nurse practitioner or a doctor in the minor injuries area. This can appear that some patients who have not waited as long are seen first. We would like to reassure you that our priority is to see the sickest patients first.

We try to provide updated information on our waiting times in order to keep patients informed of the delays.

Due to the nature of the department, we do have patients who are under the influence of alcohol and who may also require medical attention.

We do welcome all feedback and would like to reassure you that all comments are taken seriously and acted upon as part of our ongoing commitment to improving patient and carer experience.

We would be happy to look into your concerns further and therefore would advise you to get in touch with our Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS) on free phone 0800 0730510.
